Christianity and Catholicism

 Difference in religious belief systems:

Christianity is based on the Bible and places importance on the doctrine of the Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity refers to the belief that God is composed of three forms: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Additionally, faith in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is important in the concept of salvation. On the other hand, Catholicism is based on the Buddhist scriptures and the Taoist classics from the Three Kingdoms period, as well as Korea's indigenous religions. Similar to Buddhism, they place importance on the concepts of reincarnation and karma. Additionally, Catholicism places importance on the Last Judgment.

Difference in worship styles: Most Christian churches hold worship services on Sundays, and they usually include singing, prayer, preaching, and Communion. Christian churches also place importance on the role of the community of faith and practice good deeds through activities such as social outreach. In contrast, Catholic worship services place more emphasis on indigenous elements. Although most Catholic churches also hold Sunday worship services, they also have catechism classes, significant holidays, and church festivals. Furthermore, most of the prayers and hymns in Catholicism are in Japanese.

Difference in Bible interpretation: Christianity considers the Bible to be a guide for spiritual life. As the Bible is written in symbolic and metaphorical language, it can be interpreted in various ways. However, Christianity regards the Bible as the foundation of faith, so the basic interpretation method is traditional textual interpretation.
